Since his first vintage in 2004, JYP has been diligently gathering micro-plots of vines in the cooler upper reaches of the Savoie region.
In the two decades since then he has worked to grow his offering which has recently culminated in the finished construction of a new winery, just outside of Albertville, nestled between many of the vines he tends to alongside his grower friend Raphaël Marin.I Vicini project in Piedmont, is a passion project for him. Making wine with extended maceration has always been a feature of his work, texturally complimenting his wines due to the pronounced acid levels produced in alpine regions. This technique, historically utilised in Piedmont, is where JYP has drawn much of his inspiration.
The intention of these wines has always been to challenge himself to work with a new terroir, varieties and soil etc, while also paying homage to the region he admires so dearly.
