Mataburro is a family story since Laurent Roger, former sommelier of the Verre Volé in Paris, took over the vineyards that once belonged to his grandfather, then to his father.
After passing through the Castex and Matassa schools, he settled in Rivesaltes, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, with his partner Mélissa. On their different plots of land, we find a great diversity of terroirs and grape varieties: merlot, black and grey grenache, macabeu, mourvedre. The grapes are always vinified with the objective of extracting the maximum fruit and obtaining wines of great drinkability.

Whole bunches were macerated for 3-4 days (fewer than last year) but the wine seems slightly more concentrated this year. it was aged 80% in concrete tanks and 20% in wood. The wine is particularly juicy with aromas of ripe black cherries. “It’s our Gamay” according to Laurent.
