Muchada-Léclapart is one of the most exciting new projects in Jerez, drawing attention for its focus on biodynamics and a non-fortified wine style. Founded in 2017 by Alejandro Muchada and Champagne’s David Léclapart, they started with a small 1.2ha parcel and have grown now to 4ha in total.
They are continuing to refine their techniques, with an emphasis on vineyard health, using natural preparations, new styles of pruning and as little handling as possible in the cellar.
They farm four sites: La Platera and Miraflores Alta in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Viña Camino del Puerto in Pago Abulagar, and 65-year-old Palomino Fino in Pago Miraflores. Each site is unqiue and offers a completely different style of Palomino or in the case of Elixir a wonderful Moscatel!
These are living wines, wonderfully expressive, detailed and delicious, it’s a great way forward for a region that has struggled for many years.
