Oscar Hermann launched Combes Wines in the balmy summer of 2016. He felt great vibes for the season ahead and dreamed of crafting delicious, uncomplicated wines that bring people together. Two barrels of Yarra Valley rosé later, this was realised. It was a milestone to say the least.
For Hermann, who had previously been honing his knowledge on the floor at the City Wine Shop, alongside stints as vineyard assistant at Yering Station and cellar hand at Stonier and Onannon, it commenced a long-considered journey into exploring Victoria’s famed grape growing regions; allowing the young producer to interpret a range of great sites and different varieties along the way.
